The initial costs you have to calculate are as follows:
1. Flight/bus tickets to Ireland
2. Hostel, hotel accommodations
3. Transportation costs, bus, train, etc.
4. Obtaining a mobile phone or if you already have one an Irish SIM card this is really necessary in order to find a job and keep in touch with family and friends back home
5. Food and drinks while you are unemployed
It is difficult to predict how much money you need initially. If you stay in a hostel, you probably need to have
€1000-1500 startup cash. Remember when you book your flights; always book a return flight just in case things are not working out well. Almost all airlines offer the possibility to change the date of return to a later date for some small fee. This will ensure that you can change the flight date if you decide to stay.
Need some quick cash? If you have already have a job offer, you might be able to get 1-2 weeks salary in advance once you are in Ireland, reducing the amount of startup cash you need to come up with before making a move.
